The Human-Animal Bond

Why is this bond so important? And how do we support it?
For individuals facing homelessness, their circumstances are seldom a matter of choice but rather a result of complex social factors, marginalisation, and isolation within our community.
This reality often leads to a very challenging and exclusionary existence.
For those living with pets, the welfare of these companions and the human-animal bond play a crucial role in owners' lives; the benefits of this bond are numerous, offering unconditional love, companionship, emotional support, and security; these elements contribute significantly to the social, emotional, and physical health and wellbeing of individuals.
Put simply, these pets fulfill basic human needs that may otherwise go unmet.
While pet ownership brings immense joy and enrichment to the lives of those experiencing homelessness, it also comes with substantial financial challenges. Too often, owners sacrifice their own welfare to ensure the health of their beloved pets.
Recognizing that love alone cannot cover veterinary expenses, Pets In The Park offers free access to preventative healthcare programs, enabling homeless individuals to care for their pets while supporting their own wellbeing. Our charity operates as a national community of local clinics, relying on volunteerism, public donations, and corporate support to deliver its programs.
To support the Human-Animal Bond, and help us to deliver our veterinary programs, consider donating to Pets In The Park today -- with a one-time or recurring donation. All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
